DRV8803 provides a four-channel low-side driver with overcurrent protection function. The device clamps the turn-off transient generated by the resistive load through the built-in diode, and can be used to drive unipolar stepping motors, DC motors, relays, solenoids or other loads.
If DRV8803 is packaged in SOIC (DW), at 25°C, each channel can provide a continuous output current of up to 1.5A (one channel is on) or 800mA (all channels are on). If the device is packaged in HTSSOP (PWP), at 25°C, each channel can provide a continuous output current of up to 2A (one channel is on) or 1A (four channels are on). With SOT-23-THN (DYZ) package, DRV8803 can provide a continuous output current of up to 1.9A (one channel is on) or up to 900mA (all channels are on) per channel at 25°C and with proper heat dissipation of printed circuit board (PCB).
The device is controlled by a simple parallel interface.
The built-in shutdown function can provide over-current protection, short-circuit protection, under-voltage lockout and overheating protection, and the specific fault is indicated by the fault output pin.
DRV8803 is packaged in 20-lead heat-resistant enhanced SOIC, 16-lead HTSSOP and 16-lead SOT-23-THN (environmental protection: RoHS, antimony/bromine-free).
