Recently, Intel Corporation announced a significant leadership change: Former Micron Senior Vice President Naga Chandrasekaran will replace the retiring Keyvan Esfarjani as Intel's Chief Global Operations Officer. This appointment will take effect on August 12, 2024, marking an important step in Intel's global operations strategy.

Naga Chandrasekaran brings over 20 years of extensive experience in the semiconductor industry, particularly during his tenure at Micron, where he gained broad expertise in technology development and management. His most recent role at Micron was as Senior Vice President of Technology Development, where he was responsible for driving the company's technological innovation and strategic development.

Chandrasekaran's arrival at Intel will bring deep expertise and management skills, especially in semiconductor manufacturing and technology development. His background will enable him to quickly adapt to Intel's complex global production operations system and lead the company's global foundry business strategy.

In his new role, Chandrasekaran will oversee Intel's global production operations, including wafer fabrication, assembly and test manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain management. He will also be responsible for developing and executing Intel's foundry strategic planning, reporting directly to Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger.

Pat Gelsinger stated, "Naga is an accomplished leader whose deep expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and technology development will greatly complement our team. As we continue to build a resilient global semiconductor supply chain and create the world's first AI-era system foundry, Naga's leadership will help us accelerate progress and seize major long-term growth opportunities."

Intel is at a critical juncture in the global semiconductor industry's profound transformation. With the advent of the artificial intelligence era, the semiconductor manufacturing industry faces unprecedented challenges and opportunities. Intel is committed to becoming the world's first system foundry serving the AI era, which requires comprehensive improvements in production capacity, technological innovation, and supply chain resilience.

Naga Chandrasekaran's appointment is a key move in this context. He will help Intel further integrate its global manufacturing and supply chain resources, increase production efficiency, and ensure the company remains competitive in the future.
