SiCSem plans to build a facility in Odisha, India, covering SiC manufacturing, assembly, testing and packaging.
SiCSem signed a cooperation agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar to focus on the high-volume production of 6-inch and 8-inch SiC wafers, which are estimated to cost 450 million rupees (equivalent to about 39 million yuan).
The project aims to help India achieve self-sufficiency in power semiconductor devices in areas such as electric vehicles, fast chargers, green energy, etc.
Indian software company Zoho has also announced that it will build an 8-inch SiC factory in its own country, and has received technical support from Clas-SiC.
