DRV8803 provides a four-channel low-side driver with overcurrent protection. This device clamps the turn-off transient generated by resistive loads through built-in diodes, and can be used to drive unipolar stepper motors, DC motors, relays, solenoids, or other loads.
If the DRV8803 is packaged in SOIC(DW), it can provide a continuous output current of up to 1.5A per channel (with one channel on) or 800mA (with all channels on) at 25°C. If the device is packaged in HTSSOP(PWP), it can provide a continuous output current of up to 2A per channel (with one channel on) or 1A (with all four channels on) at 25°C. If packaged in SOT-23-THN(DYZ), the DRV8803 can provide a continuous output current of up to 1.9A per channel (with one channel on) or up to 900mA (with all channels on) at 25°C with proper printed circuit board (PCB) heat dissipation.
The device is controlled through a simple parallel interface.
The built-in shutdown function provides overcurrent protection, short circuit protection, undervoltage lockout, and overtemperature protection, with specific faults indicated by the fault output pin.
DRV8803 is available in a 20-pin heat-resistant enhanced SOIC package, a 16-pin HTSSOP package, and a 16-pin SOT-23-THN package (environmentally friendly: RoHS compliant, antimony/bromine free).
